Sport for Life! started in December 2006 as a legacy programme for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the West Indies. Lord Richard Newby and Jane Power of Live Sport CIC agreed the first outline of the programmes with the far-sighted Stephen Alleyne, CEO of World Cup Barbados.
Since Stephen's untimely death in October 2008, Live Sport CIC has spread the concept of the programme to the Barbados Cricket Association, Kensington Oval Management Inc., the Minister of Sport and St Lucia National Cricket Association, the Queen's Park Cricket Club, Trinidad & Tobago.
Each country has established a not-for-profit company, Sport for Life! Inc., with a board of directors drawn from government, business and sport that meets tri-monthly.
Live Sport CIC continues to play a key part in the development of Sport for Life! and either Richard Newby or Jane Power is a director of each of the national Sport for Life! company boards.
